Blue Sage Pilates
A boutique Classical Pilates studio with premium training and a brand presence that wasn't keeping up. We rebuilt it from the foundation.
The Situation
Blue Sage Pilates offers rigorous, classical Pilates instruction in a boutique studio environment. The quality of the training was real — but the brand and website weren't communicating it. The logo felt flat and generic. The site was non-responsive, hard-coded, and difficult to update. There was no content strategy, no consistent voice, and no clear path for a prospective student to go from curious to booked.
The studio was underselling itself at every digital touchpoint.

The brand didn’t capture the premium quality of the training at Blue Sage, leaving the studio’s true value understated.

There wasn’t a clear content strategy, so the studio lacked a consistent way to connect with and engage its audience.
The website wasn’t responsive, making it difficult for clients to access on mobile devices.
The Insight
Classical Pilates has a specific lineage — it traces directly back to Joseph Pilates and a small chain of certified teachers. That heritage carries meaning for the people who seek it out, and it's something most fitness studios can't claim. Blue Sage needed a brand that reflected that tradition without feeling stiff or inaccessible — precise and grounded, but warm enough to welcome someone who'd never heard of a reformer.
That tension became the creative brief.

The Work
Starting with discovery, we mapped the studio's audience, competitive position, and the experience clients were meant to feel from first contact through ongoing practice.
PRIMARY AUDIENCE
Newcomers seeking recovery
Adults — often retirees — recovering from injury or working to prevent one. Looking for low-impact, expert-guided movement they can trust.
SECONDARY AUDIENCE
Competitive & Professional Athletes
Dancers, figure skaters, and professional athletes using classical Pilates to build functional strength, balance, and injury resilience.
TERTIARY AUDIENCE
Classical Pilates Professionals
Certified instructors and practitioners worldwide seeking to deepen their method knowledge and connect with a global professional community.

The logo came from that foundation. Early sketches explored combining a custom mark with hand-lettering, but the combination was overcomplicated.
The final mark draws its form from Classical Pilates itself — a wave shape inspired by the body in motion on a reformer. Clean, intentional, and specific to this studio.
The color palette, typography, and visual system were built to balance the precision of classical training with the warmth of a boutique studio. Every decision had a reason tied back to what Blue Sage actually is.

The website was rebuilt responsive and mobile-first, with clear navigation, strong calls to action, and a content structure that gives prospective students a real sense of what to expect. The brand extended into print — brochures, business cards, workshop posters, and branded merchandise — creating consistency across every touchpoint.
